Now that the bill review season has come to an end, there’s no doubt that in the process you’ve encountered some section of our statutes that urgently cries out for change or deletion. This is the time to start drafting legislation for next year. The NHLA will be evaluating proposed legislation on August 1 at 1:00 pm at Murphy’s Taproom in Manchester. Bring your suggestions! The more details you can provide, the better.

Anyone can suggest a bill, and most legislators are willing to sponsor a bill for a constituent or a friend. However, if you are interested in actually getting a bill passed, more work on your part will improve the odds. The more carefully your bill is drafted, the more thoroughly you have checked other related statutes for conflicts, the better the bill topic aligns with the sponsor’s interests, the greater the chance it will go forward.
