Liberty Dinner

Liberty Dinner was a huge success. This was the first year that the Liberty Dinner actually sold out. The food was delicious, the V.I.P. reception was packed, the conversations were lively, and everyone had a great time. Thank you to all who came and supported the NHLA. Hope to see you again next year.

A special thank you to Clifton Labree, this year’s guest speaker, for sharing with us his research and book on the life of General John Stark. His book is available online at http://thelabreefamily.com/Fading%20Shadows%20Imprint.htm.

Congratulations and thanks to Edith “Dee” Hogan for earning the Legislator of the Year award and Keith Carlsen for winning Activist of the Year. Peter Warren had the winning card in the gun raffle and Linda Lagana was the lucky winner in the 50/50 raffle.

Board Member Position Opening Soon

Board member Carol McGuire will be resigning as Treasurer by October 1. The board will be looking to appoint someone to replace her as soon as a viable replacement is found. This appointment is only commissioned until April 2010 when the position is up for re-election. The responsibilities and duties of the treasurer are:

  1. Control NHLA funds, pay the bills, report income and expenses to the Board at the monthly meetings, and maintain the inventory of literature, pins, T-shirts, etc.

  2. Monitor activity in the bank and PayPal accounts.

  3. Spearhead all fund raising activities, from the gun raffle to Day at the Races.

  4. Report PAC activities to the Secretary of State accurately and on time.

  5. Participate in all Board activities: monthly meetings, Gold Standards, selecting LOY and AOY, e-mail discussions, etc.

Anyone interested in joining the board, please send your inquiries to chair@nhliberty.org.

Day at the Races Coordinator Needed

In past years, we have done a Day at the Races fundraiser at the NASCAR track in Louden. It gives you an opportunity to donate your time to the racetrack, which translates into money for the NHLA.

We need someone who will work with Louden to pick a day (the race is in September) for us to work and then get busy recruiting people to show up! Contact chair@nhliberty.org to learn more.

NHLA Publicity

Board member Mark Warden was instrumental in inviting former Manchester Press Editor Andrew Manuse to the write a pair of press releases about the Liberty Alliance’s Liberty Rating report card and the legislator and activist of the year. The efforts were successful, and news on the alliance appeared in the Nashua Telegraph, on www.bluehampshire.com, and www.redhampshire.com. Mark’s efforts also landed him an interview for one hour on Manchester’s WGIR morning radio show with Charlie Sherman and on Jennifer Horn’s radio show in Nashua on July 13.

The NHLA is gaining momentum and strength. Membership is growing and our influence is being felt in N.H. political circles to a greater degree than ever before. We need to get out there more and keep pushing forward if we’re going to make positive change in New Hampshire. With elections for state representation (House and Senate) coming up next year, this is the perfect time for us to push the freedom agenda. Talk to your family and friends about the NHLA. Download and print our new tri-fold brochure and Liberty Rating and pass them out to everyone you know. If face-to-face contact makes you feel uncomfortable, do literature drops throughout your town. Stick the printouts in peoples’ newspaper tubes or on front doors. Do not place anything inside a person’s mailbox. Remember, every little bit helps.

NHLA Annual Meeting

We will be holding our Annual Meeting on August 16 at 3:00 pm in Epsom. All members are welcome. Meet the board, bring your ideas on how you can help protect and advance liberty in N.H., and give feedback on important issues of the day. We will also be having discussion about the NHLA’s core principles.

When we’re done with the meeting at 5:00 pm, plan on staying for a potluck BBQ. Please bring something to eat or drink for all to share. Cookout will end at 8:00 pm.Email chair@nhliberty.org for location or more details.
